AI Engineering in Practice: Building and Running AI-Enabled Systems

This event is a collaboration between Seven Peaks and AWS. The AWS talk title is being finalized. AI IS MOVING FROM INDIVIDUAL TOOLS INTO ENGINEERING SYSTEMSMost engineering teams are already using AI somewhere in their workflow, from writing code and generating tests to reviewing pull requests, analyzing data, or supporting operational tasks. The bigger challenge starts when AI moves beyond individual productivity and becomes part of how software is designed, built, tested, deployed, and operated. At that point, the questions become much broader. How should AI fit into existing engineering workflows? Where should agents operate independently, and where should people remain in control? How do teams maintain quality, security, traceability, and reliability? And what infrastructure is needed underneath these increasingly automated systems? This session brings together Seven Peaks and AWS to explore those questions from both the engineering and cloud perspectives. Seven Peaks will share practical experience from applying AI across software delivery, and what that requires from the platform underneath. AWS will bring the view from the cloud side, looking at what it takes to move these systems from prototype into production. Three technical talks, followed by open Q&A and discussion. WHAT WE WILL EXPLOREThis is not a high-level discussion about the future of AI. The focus is on the practical engineering questions that appear as AI becomes part of real software delivery. Automating the software development lifecycle Where agents can run the work end to end today, from discovery and development through testing and deployment, and where they still cannot. Quality, governance, and human oversight How accountability, traceability, security, and engineering standards hold up as more of the work becomes automated, and where human review stays. How engineering roles are changing What matters more when producing code is only one part of the problem, and what it means to build a delivery team around agents rather than around tools. The platform underneath AI engineering How compute, data, networking, observability, and security need to evolve to support AI-enabled and agentic workloads. Cost as a design constraint How the cost of running AI workloads shapes architecture decisions, and how early it needs to enter the conversation. From prototype to production The gaps teams hit between a working prototype and a system that can go live, the checks worth running first, and what this has looked like for teams building on AWS.
